About the Program

Needle & Thread is a flagship vocational training initiative by Trust Kashmir, focused on tribal and rural women across Jammu & Kashmir. The program provides practical, income-generating skills to uplift women from disadvantaged communities.

Training sessions are conducted in small community batches, covering:

• 🧵 Basic stitching, cutting, and embroidery techniques
• 👚 Garment construction using manual and electric machines
• 🧠 Soft skills, confidence building, and basic entrepreneurship
• 💼 Linkages to local tailoring units and market platforms

Impact So Far

Since its inception, the program has trained over 1000+ women across multiple districts. Several graduates have started home-based tailoring units or joined self-help groups, contributing to their family income and community welfare.

Goals & Future Plans

Trust Kashmir aims to scale this program to all 10 districts of J&K, build mobile training units for remote access, and integrate advanced fashion and textile design modules to match market demand.
